· The only information CAL HIPAA obtains about individual visitors is information supplied voluntarily by visitors who register to become users of the site.

· In cases when CAL HIPAA may need personal information to provide users with services tailored especially for them, or to inform them about new features or services, users are asked explicitly for that information.

· No personally identifiable information provided by web site users will be sold to third parties unless the user specifically authorizes CAL HIPAA to do or CAL HIPAA is sold to a third party.

Users may unsubscribe to any of our newsletters and mailing lists at any time by following the instructions contained at the end of every newsletter and throughout our web site. While we try to ensure that this information is viewable in all reasonably current email browsers, there may be cases where certain e-mail programs and web browsers do not display the unsubscribe information correctly. CAL HIPAA maintains a strict "no-spam" policy. Your information, including your e-mail address will not be sold to any third party if you sign up for one of our newsletters or mailing lists. You can unsubscribe from them at any time.

CAL HIPAA uses a system to "tag" users after they have voted, so they can vote only once on a particular question. This tag is not correlated with information about individual users.

Surveys
Occasionally, CAL HIPAA conducts user surveys to better serve our users. We sometimes share the aggregated demographic information in these surveys with our partners. We never share any survey information about specific individuals with any third party.

Cookies are small pieces of temporary data that are exchanged between a web site and a user's computer which enable a "session", or "dialog," to be established between a user's computer and our database. With the session established, CAL HIPAA is able to tailor its responses (i.e., identify and provide you with the information you want) and help you traverse our web pages in the most efficient and effective manner possible. The session is often broken when the CAL HIPAA server does not receive further requests from your computer or you simply exit your browser. We limit our use of cookies to "session cookies." These are the types of cookies that are temporarily stored in a user's computer's memory and which are normally deleted from a user's computer when the user logs off the computer or the user exits the browser.
